8 Best Thakali Restaurants in Kathmandu
1. Jimbu Thakali – Best for Chicken Thakali Set
Whenever I crave for Thakali thali, the first name that always comes to my mind is Jimbu Thakali. This is because they offer authentic, delicious food at a more reasonable price compared to other popular Thakali restaurants.
This famous Thakali restaurant is named after the Himalayan herb called “jimbu”. Vivek Sherchan, originally from Thak-Khola Village in Mustang, started Jimbu Thakali to share authentic Thakali Khana with locals and tourists
It is situated in four locations: Tangal, Jhamsikhel, New Baneshwor, and Kalimati. The Thakali khana here is known for its irresistible and perfectly balanced flavors. You must also try their special mutton momo and chicken nachos. Apart from normal thali, it also offers special thali called “Cheli Jwai Thali” which includes rice, lentils, various meats, veggies, pickles, and desserts.
Jimbu Thakali is a great place for family gatherings and friends’ meetings. However, since it can get packed during holidays and special occasions, it’s best to pre-book a spot.
