Nagar Mandap Shree Kirti Bihar, also known as Thai Bihar, is located in Kirtipur, just a 10-minute drive from Balku. It was officially inaugurated by the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand in 1995. Built in traditional Thai architecture, this monastery mesmerizes with its stunning white and gold decoration and gives you a vibe of Thailand.
Thai Bihar displays the four main Buddhist sites. The main temple has a golden Buddha statue that is usually open during puja. Next to it, there are doors showing important moments in Buddha’s life, his birth in Lumbini, enlightenment at Bodh Gaya, first teaching at Sarnath, and passing away in Kushinagar.
Apart from the main temple, the monastery also has a pagoda and a stupa.
