Kurintar is a village located on the riverside of the Trishuli River, between Kathmandu and Pokhara. It lies in the Chitwan district and is just 104.4 km from Kathmandu.

This is a place where stunning scenery meets relaxation and adventure. It is also an ideal stop for travelers on long journeys.

I visit Kurintar at least once a month since it is only 3 to 4 hours away from Kathmandu, and perfect for a short 2-day vacation.

How to Reach Kurintar?

1. By Public Bus

You can take any bus traveling through Prithivi Highway from New Buspark, Old Buspark, or Kalanki and get off the bus at Kurintar. In between, the driver will stop the bus for bathroom, tea, and lunch. You can reach within 3 to 4 hours.

2. By Private Vehicle

Traveling by your own vehicle is a convenient option. The road is mostly smooth, and you can travel at your own pace. There are many local eateries you can explore in between, and many spots to stop for photos

Things to Do in Kurintar

1. Rafting

If you are an adventure seeker, you can go rafting in the Trishuli River. Most of the resorts arrange rafting for you. You just need to pay extra. Also, make sure you check the weather and guidelines for your safety. 

2. Relax in Resorts

There are many resorts in Kurintar, which are the perfect blend of greenery, peace, and relaxation. Almost all resorts have large properties to explore, a swimming pool to relax in, and many more. Relaxing in the freshwater pool and enjoying delicious food and drinks are what I enjoy most there.

3. Visit Kurintar Beer Garden 

Kurintar Beer Garden (Yak Biergarten) is one of the popular attractions of Kurintar. It has a cozy Bavarian-style setup with wooden benches and tables. Its outdoor seating offers beautiful views of the Trishuli River, greenery, and mountains, creating an inviting atmosphere. If you love capturing photos or videos, this is the perfect spot.

They offer fresh beers from Barasinghe Factory, located just next door. The food is delicious and the service is quick. They also allow you to take a Barasinghe factory tour at Nrs 500

4. Sky Cycling and Zipline

River Fun Beach Resort offers sky cycling and zipline for adventure lovers, giving you a bird’s eye view of the river and hills.

5. Village Hike

Cross the suspension bridge and hike to the village. In between, you can see greenery and get to experience the life of the local people. 

6. ATV Rides

If you want to ride an ATV, Barasinghe Kurintar Resort lets you enjoy a fun ride around the scenic area.

Nearby Attractions in Kurintar

1. Manakamana Temple

Located in the Gorkha district, Manakamana Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the Goddess Bhagwati. Just like its name, Mana “heart” and kamana “wish”, it is believed that if people wish from their heart, their wishes will be fulfilled. 

Just an hour drive from Kurintar lies this Temple. Many people prefer to stay overnight at Kurintar and go to Manakamana Temple the next morning. 

2. Chitwan National Park

Chitwan National Park is one of the oldest national parks of Nepal. It is just an hour drive from Kurintar. You can spot animals like deer, rhinos, crocodiles, and elephants in this park. If you are lucky enough, you might get to see a tiger too.

3. Bandipur

Just an hour drive from Kurintar, you will reach Bandipur, an old town with a preserved Newar culture. You will find traditionally built houses, narrow lanes, and outdoor restaurants that give a European vibe.

You can stay at some of the best resorts in Kurintar that offer a peaceful and relaxing stay. I personally love Riverside Spring Resorts, Siddhartha Cottage Resort, and Summit River Lodge.

I would recommend dining in Kurintar Beer Garden, as they offer a variety of food. Try their dharane sukuti sadheko, kung pao chicken, dan dan noodles, darjeeling momo, schezwan fried rice, meat lovers pizza, and chocolate mousse.

You can also eat in Himalayan Java, which is located just opposite Riverside Spring Resort. 

Best Time to Visit Kurintar

Any time of the year is great to visit Kurintar. If you love swimming and rafting, visit during the summer (March – May), and if you are the one who cannot bear heat, visiting during the autumn (September – November) and winter (December – February) would be a great option. 

The place will look good in Monsoon too, and the hotel prices will be less this season. 

Kurintar Itinerary

Kurintar is perfect for a 2-day trip. 

Day 1: Start your journey around 10 am from Kathmandu. You will reach Kurintar within 3 to 4 hours. Have lunch in either Malekhu or the resort. Check into the resort. Spend the day swimming or engaging in adventurous activities. In the evening, go to Yak Biergarten for snacks or dinner.

Day 2: Wake up early in the morning and hike to the village. Have breakfast at the resort. Do swimming or take part in any activities you like. Check out from the resort and have lunch either there or in Malekhu. Then, head back to Kathmandu.

Kurintar trip costs around Nrs 5000/person, including food, lodging, and travel on a budget. If you are planning to stay in a luxurious hotel and try adventurous activities, expect to spend more.

Final Thoughts

At last, Kurintar is a great spot for people who enjoy a drive or a road trip. It is neither too near nor too far, making it perfect for a mini getaway. The place is surrounded by lush greenery, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the stay is affordable. Plus, if you are a beer lover, Kurintar is a heaven.
